Our Story
A Mother & Daughter Journey at Brookfield House
The idea for Brookfield House really began with my daughter, Jacinda.
She had a desire to return home and create something together, just the two of us.
At that stage, I had been running our family farm for many years while raising our children. My youngest was in high school, and I felt that it might be time for something new.
Jacinda came with her background in event styling, and I with mine in graphic design, and we began to explore what we might create together.
Finding Our Direction
In the beginning, we thought perhaps events would be the path.
But as I considered it more, I realised I wasn’t drawn to the late nights, the pack downs, and the physical demands that come with that kind of work. I felt I was at a stage where I wanted something a little gentler, something we could sustain and enjoy.
And then, quite unexpectedly, Brookfield House came up for sale.
We went to see it and truly fell in love the moment we arrived. There was something about it, the house and gardens even the pool, a feeling that just felt right and so exciting.
We just knew it was something special.
We could see it.
And from that very first visit, we knew what it wanted to become.
It was always going to be a High Tea House.
 A Journey to London
Not long after, Jacinda and I travelled to London.
We visited as many high tea experiences as we could, from the beautifully traditional to the more creative and modern interpretations.
We took it all in, all the details, the service, the atmosphere, and began shaping what Brookfield House was going to become.
When we returned home, Jacinda started designing mood boards to see our vision and to start the renovation journey.
 Creating Brookfield House
What followed was not a quick process.
It took three years of renovations, planning, and a great deal of hard work, not just from us, but from a small and dedicated team who helped bring it all together.
Thank you to Dennis, James, Victoria, Jesse and Jackson, just a few of the people who started this journey with us from the beginning.
Both Jacinda and I have always been creative, artistic people, with a deep love of colour particularly pink and florals. That naturally found its way into the house.
You will see it throughout Brookfield House, in the soft tones of the rose quartz tables, in the floral wallpapers, with each room having its own different feeling and personality, and in the floral touches that bring warmth and individuality to every space while still tying the whole house together.
Every space has its own feeling, its own quiet charm.
During the process, Jacinda really led the way with the room designs, always bringing colour and vibrancy. I would often pull things back a little when it became a bit too vibrant and over the top, and then sometimes I was probably a little too sedate. So somewhere in the middle of the two of us became the house we have today.
And yet, through it all, we have been very mindful to respect the heritage of the house allowing its history to remain while still showing our personality and style within it.
Outside, the gardens have been just as important to us.
The gardens are filled with pots from family homes and plants that were loved in other people’s gardens before arriving at Brookfield House, mixed with new additions that together make everything feel loved, collective, colourful and fairy tale-like, something we both love and something we hope our guests feel the moment they arrive.
Opening Our Doors
When we finally opened, we didn’t quite know what to expect.
But the response from our local community was something we will never forget.
It was received with such warmth and kindness, and we felt incredibly grateful.
What It Means to Us
Brookfield House is more than a business.
It is something we have built together, through different stages of life, with different strengths, but with a shared love for creating something meaningful and beautiful.
And for me, as a mother, there is something very special about creating something beautiful with my daughter.
 With Love
Every guest who walks through our doors becomes part of that story in a way.
And we are so thankful to share it.
Love always,
Natasha & Jacinda
