Description
Peaceful Monkey King Green Tea
Drink me for:
- An award-winning tea leaf with a premium taste
- Antioxidant goodness
- A special flavour that can be gentle or stronger
I taste like:
I’m as unique and distinctive in appearance and as I am in taste! I have a light, earthy, and slightly floral (sometimes even fruity) green tea flavour that is special to the famous high Huangshan Mountain region in China.
More about Me:
Legend says I originated from a wild tea tree that grew as a gift from the Peaceful Monkey King after he was laid to rest by a kind local farmer and planted a wild tea tree on top.
Upon his return one year later, the most special tea leaves had grown, unlike those seen before – which he knew was a gift from the Monkey King.
I was originally reserved for emperors during the Qing Dynasty, and am still considered a rare, “top tier tea” of excellent quality today.
Unlike most tea leaves, I have unique large, flat and vibrant leaves that are always kept whole. It takes expertise and time to heat and press me by hand (which helps retain better aroma and taste). I often have a slightly sweet floral note, thanks to the wild orchids that bloom across the mountains at the same time.
Green tea is full of polyphenols (natural micronutrients) and associated with many potential health benefits, such as:
- May give your health and metabolism a little boost
- May reduce inflammation and joint pain
- May neutralise breath odour
- May aid digestion, lower cholesterol and manage appetite
We could say “keep me on hand for special occasions” – but life is the special occasion! Drink me anytime you crave a delicious warm cup from a unique green tea that will refresh and revive your senses.
Brewing Tips
Peaceful Monkey King is best brewed at 80°C for 2-3 minutes according to how strong you would like the taste. It can be brewed 2-3 times (just increase the steep time between each brew) if desired.
