More about Me:

Hi, I’m Iron Goddess of Mercy Tea. A traditional Chinese Oolong Tea originating in the Fujian Province, and also known by the names “Tieguanyin” Tea or “Ti Kuan Yin (TGY)” Tea.

I’ve been imported to Australia from China’s high hilltops, where I grow among crisp air and cool streams – all for your drinking pleasure!

This tea dates back to the early 19th century and takes its name from its “ability” to lead a sick person to find the tea tree and have improved health after drinking.  As thanks for this, it was named after the Chinese goddess Guanyin (aka, the Iron Goddess of Mercy).

Oolong is often described as somewhere between green and black tea, but the truth is, it’s in a category of its own – although this particular tea is more similar to green tea than black.

Iron Goddess of Mercy is a complex, unique and premium tea that requires tea mastery and expertise to craft by hand (the process was even kept a secret for many years)!

You’ll notice the leaves have a unique ball like shape from being tightly rolled whilst still warm.

Benefits of Iron Goddess of Mercy Oolong:

I’m full of antioxidants, polyphenols and flavonoids that support good health. My catechins may be beneficial to your metabolism and L-Theanine can relieve stress. The small amount of some natural caffeine may improve energy, may help memory and alertness.

I can be re-steeped for a slightly different flavour each time. Let me brew a minute longer with fresh hot water the second time.
