Smokin Caravan Blend

Smokin Caravan is inspired by the historic camel caravans of the 18th century, which carried tea across vast distances from China through Russia and into Europe. These remarkable journeys took many months, covering thousands of kilometres up to 9700km along ancient trade routes.

Over time, a legend emerged that these travels imparted a gentle smoky character to the tea.

The smokey taste came from the camp fires that were made from dried Camel dung each time they stopped to rest and prepare food. The smoke over such a long time would give the tea the unique smokey notes.

While romantic in nature, today’s smoky notes are carefully crafted using Lapsang Souchong—a traditional tea dried over pinewood fires, lending depth, warmth, and a distinctive campfire aroma..

Today no Camel dung is used and the smoky tastes comes from the Lapsang Souchong as the leaves are traditionally smoke-dried over pinewood fires, creating a strong smokey flavour.
